Guardians of the ocean, they play an important role in the ocean regulation system.
Through the bioaccumulation of contaminants such as plastic particles and heavy metals, they are indicators of the health of the oceans.
It is therefore essential to collect biochemical and ecotoxicological data, never analyzed in Polynesia, to better understand them and therefore better protect them.
It is also important to map their migratory routes, also little known, in order to limit the risk of collisions given the high maritime traffic in these areas.
